Our pumps draw only 6 amps at 12 volts — a minimal electrical load that has no meaningful impact on your charging system — while flowing 35 or more gallons per minute through the cooling system. 

That flow rate handles V8 engines up to 650 horsepower, covering the vast majority of street and strip builds.

Removing the water pump from the accessory drive also simplifies your belt routing and can free up space at the front of the engine, which matters on builds where header clearance or tight engine bay packaging is already a challenge.

Weight Savings on Top of the Power Gains

A cast iron or even aluminum mechanical water pump with its housing, pulley, and associated hardware adds meaningful weight to the front of the engine. Our SBC and Ford electric water pumps come in around 6 lbs. 

Our BBC unit is approximately 7 lbs. That's the entire pump, ready to install. For a car being built with weight distribution in mind, removing a heavy mechanical pump and replacing it with a compact electric unit makes a difference you can measure on the scales.

SBC and Ford pumps come in blue, black, red, polished, and chrome. The BBC units are available in blue, black, and red.

If you're building a show-quality engine bay, the polished and chrome options hold up visually the same way our valve covers and alternators do. If the car is a dedicated race vehicle where appearance takes a back seat, black or the colored finishes work just as well under the hood.

An electric water pump needs a switched 12-volt power source and needs to be wired so it runs whenever the engine is running.

Unlike a mechanical pump that operates automatically, the electric unit depends on your wiring to keep coolant flowing. On a street car this typically means wiring through your ignition switch. 

On a race car it means making sure the pump circuit is on your standard pre-race checklist. It's a simple installation consideration, but worth planning before the pump goes in rather than after.
